Custody changes that are clear and confirmed.

Many misunderstandings come from an incomplete date, or a change one parent thought was agreed when the other had not yet replied.

Write a complete request

Give the dates, the times you are proposing and what changes for the journeys. If you are suggesting a swap, state both periods: the one you give up and the one you take. Be wary of markers such as “the even week”: 2026 has 53 weeks, and week 53 (from 28 December 2026) and week 1 (from 4 January 2027) are both odd. A rotation based on even and odd weeks therefore shifts at the start of 2027.

Wait for confirmation

Without a reply, there is no way of knowing whether the proposal has been read and understood. Keep the confirmed version in view, and note what is still to be discussed.

Record the change in one place

Once you agree, add the change to the shared custody calendar and check how the rhythm picks up afterwards. In Parentello, the proposal, the reply and the calendar stay in one place.

Until a change is confirmed

A change that has not been accepted does not allow you to keep your child: what has been decided still applies. In France, failing to hand over a child when a decision requires it is an offence (non-représentation d’enfant), punishable by one year’s imprisonment and a €15,000 fine. A house move must be announced to the other parent in advance.

Your questions

Does an app prevent all conflict?

No. It makes information clearer, but it cannot guarantee that you will agree.

What if you still read the schedule differently?

Go back to the reference text: court ruling, formal agreement or written arrangement. If the disagreement continues, family mediation or a legal professional can help. Compulsory mediation before going to the judge was a trial that ended in late 2024; still, check whether your agreement provides for mediation. Since 1 September 2025, the judge can require parents to meet a mediator or a conciliator.
